“A fine objective to fulfil”

Getting into offshore racing late in the day, Hendrik Witzmann was up for a big and wonderful experience. “The Mini-Transat is the perfect opportunity to go for it. Completing a singlehanded transatlantic passage on such a small boat, it’s a fine objective to fulfil in a lifetime! The Mini class gathers together people of all different backgrounds, which makes the competition very interesting”, he points out.

Hendrik Witzmann is competing with a Pogo 3 launched in 2016. “Originally, I wanted to participate in the 2017 edition of the Mini-Transat. However, I was too busy at work and had to push it back a couple of years. This time, here I am!” Having started out double-handed alongside the experienced Simon Koster (3rd prototype in the Mini-Transat 2017), Hendrik has this year participated in his first major singlehanded races. “It’s a very special exercise. You have to be a multitasker. It’s not just about being quick or manoeuvring well. There is so much more to it…”

Nautical track record:

- 10th in the Chrono 6.50 2016
- Races on the Mini circuit in 2018 (5th in the Mini Fastnet with Simon Koster)
- Races on the Mini circuit in 2019 (2nd in the Plastimo Lorient Mini with Simon Koster, 8th in the Trophée MAP)
