Kevin Tritschler out to discover the Atlantic

Kevin Tritschler is a lucky guy. He’s someone who has turned their passion into a profession or vice-versa… Indeed, living in Brittany’s Morbihan region, he works at JPK Composites. He builds racer-cruisers, which means he regularly gets to deliver boats for his clients. Always setting out from Lorient, he gets to deliver boats to Belgium and England. Sometimes, he sails to Madeira or the Azores aboard JPKs fresh out of the box.

A jack-of-all-trades, he practises a multitude of other sports: running, surfing, kitesurfing and climbing. However, he also loves competition. Indeed, he’s a familiar face at the Spi Ouest France, competing in every edition in IRC since 2012 and even has three victories to his credit! The idea of doing the Mini Transat La Boulangère has been rolling around his head for a long time. “The sense of freedom, having to do everything yourself, the long runs under spinnaker… it’s a childhood dream” he says. It was in 2015 that he decided to grab the adventure by both horns, tracking down the available boats. Only the 550 was still for sale. She’s a red Pogo 2 which will discover the Atlantic passage at the same time as Kevin! “I’ve come off well ultimately” rejoices the skipper of Rolly Tasker Sails. For this Mini Transat La Boulangère, Kevin is ready to have some fun and turn something that may not appear to be an asset into a positive: “Yes, I’m a big sleeper, but I’m on it when you need to put yourself in the red”. Similarly, he readily admits to not being a fan of the sextant! To hone his preparation, he’s participated in several races on the Mini circuit in 2018 and 2019. In the last Mini en Mai, he ranked 18th of 55 boats. A childhood dream is taking concrete form and Kevin is about to discover how it feels to get a glimpse of Martinique after three weeks, alone at sea.
