“The first step can only be the Mini-Transat…”

“I’ve been sailing since the age of 6. The sea has always been a major draw for me. It gives me an inner peace, makes me feel quietly confident and prompts me to test myself and always give my all.” Matteo Sericano, who studied philosophy at Genoa University, cannot imagine his life anywhere else but on the water. “I’m determined to follow my dream, to continue a career as a solo sailor. The first step can only be the Mini Transat.”

Matteo is sailing a well-known prototype, the 888, with which Simon Koster finished 3rd in the Mini-Transat 2017. “This boat is both beautiful and complicated, which is what makes her interesting. I hope to make it to the other side of the Atlantic with her, having sailed a great race and gained a lot of experience.”

Nautical track record:

- Competitions in Optimist, 420 and 470
- Préparateur on Alberto Bona’s Mini 6.50 and then Class40
- Participations in races on the Mini circuit in 2019 (winner Arcipelago 650)
