The Atlantic, a first!

Passionate about sailing and French No.2 in the Optimist, Guillaume has already participated in numerous competitions, notably in J/80 from 2015 to 2018 on the French Cup circuit and also on the double-handed and crewed IRC circuits with races like the Duo Cat Amania and the Celtikup. An officer in the merchant navy, Guillaume is used to sailing offshore since he’s already sailed the seven seas of the globe through his work, even though he’s not yet crossed the Atlantic. He’s preparing to take on this latest challenge by participating in the next Mini-Transat La Boulangère: “The Mini-Transat is a fresh challenge as it’s an opportunity for me to sail singlehanded and cross the Atlantic Ocean”.

To achieve this, Guillaume has opted to sail a Raison-design Maxi 6.50, which was launched in 2019 so she’s a very latest-generation production boat. “I’ve opted for this boat because of her scow bow, which combine power and sailing comfort”. And that’s just as well as the Breton freely admits that he’s a speed junkie at sea and his biggest fear is the reverse of that, a day spent becalmed…
