“I jumped at the chance”

“I’ve always done a lot of sailing. When the timing was right to participate in the Mini-Transat in terms of schedule and budget, I jumped at the chance”, explains Lauris Noslier, who originally considered setting sail on a journey of discovery with a Mini 6.50 from an earlier generation. “However, last year, I realised that I wanted a more high-performance boat. I got hooked.” This boat is a Pogo 3, famed for her versatility.

After a five-year interlude to devote his time to another passion, rugby, Lauris is taking up the gauntlet of his biggest on-the-water challenge yet. “I was keen to sail offshore, singlehanded”, he says. “Sailing solo, I’m discovering other sensations, other ways of looking at things.” His competitive ambitions? “The Top 10 is the official objective, the Top 5 is my personal goal!”
