Skipper and manager of the company Blue Magic Cat, specialising in the chartering of cruising boats in Barcelona, Ignasi Tico has criss-crossed the oceans – and the Med in particular – in every direction. Making his debut on the Mini 6.50 circuit in 2019, the same year that he purchased the Pogo 2 Tur Tur – a boat with which his compatriot Jesus Jimenez Martinez lined up for the start of the Mini Transat 2015 – the Spanish sailor is finally getting to fulfil an age-old dream by taking the start of the race himself. It’s a big adventure for me. I want it to put a smile on my face from beginning to end, even if I know it won’t always be easy” explains the Catalan, who has but one motto in life: Carpe Diem. “Whilst I’m at sea, I want to make the most of every moment”, explains the skipper, who has set himself just one objective, that of making it to the other side of the big pond. Setting sail on a singlehanded transatlantic passage on a 6.50-metre boat, with no modern means of communication, is plainly an incredible project and I’m going to share it with some very good friends, who are going to help me to be happy at sea”.
