Chasing your dreams… among friends!
Paul Cloarec and Jean-Marie Jézéquel are childhood friends. They grew up and learned to sail in the Baie de Morlaix. They’ve dreamt about the Mini-Transat for a fair old while too. Rather than being rivals, they’ve opted to join forces and mount a project together, with the same boat. Paul will be at the start of this 2019 edition whilst Jean-Marie will set sail in 2021.
To give concrete expression to their respective undertakings, they’ve purchased a brand new production Mini. A David Raison design, the Maxi 6.50 is notably characterised by a scow bow. “We chose this boat following the performance of Raison’s prototype designs. The Maxi 6.50 isn’t wet and above all she’s very seaworthy and comfortable. I’m expecting endless sessions slipping along on this little speed machine”, says an enthusiastic Paul Cloarec, who will be setting sail with high hopes for his competitive performance, armed with a stack of good results in the preparatory races. Paul also has two strong performances to his credit in the Mini Fastnet, in 2015 (winner) and 2016 (2nd).
Nautical track record:
