In 2019, Camille Bertel joined the Lalou Multi racing stable within the context of her professional ‘composite materials’ sandwich course. She also works in various of the company’s yards and took up the role of shore crew for Raphaël Lutard’s Mini 6.50 in the last edition of the Mini Transat.

Talented as well as persevering, the young sailor was entrusted with the helm of this same boat at the cutting edge of composite technology, in December 2020, and is now having her own stab at the race. It’s an event which I’ve been drawn to since I was very young. Even before I got into dinghy sailing, I wanted to sail offshore!”, enthuses the sailor originally from Rennes and now based in Verdon-sur-Mer in south-west France. Doing the Mini, especially so with this resolutely high-tech prototype, is a big challenge for me, so I’m just going to try to do the best I can”, assures the skipper of Cap Ingelec, who boasts a fine track record in dinghy sailing, as demonstrated by a 7th place in the European EUROSAF Championship and a 2nd place in the International Youth Cup in the 420 series in 2015. “I’m hoping to have fun out on the water. I’m not targeting the podium as I don’t have the necessary skills for that, but I hope to go all the way and sail a clean race.”
