Brieuc Lebec grew up in La Trinité-sur-Mer. His childhood friends, with (or against) whom he’s raced for years in Open 5.70, J80 or IRC, are none other than Corentin Horeau, Julien Villion, Quentin Delapierre and Matthieu Salomon; young talent with wide acclaim in today’s offshore racing universe and/or Olympic circles.

He too, could have taken up a career in sailing, but following his studies at business school he opted to go and live in Hong Kong, where he worked as a digital consultant for five years. So why the Mini Transat now? “It’s doubtless a way of filling a void. Unlike my mates, I opted to work in the business world, sat at a desk, but despite that I too want to sample the delights of racing offshore”, admits the skipper of the Pogo 3 Velotrade, who has already shown that he can be a killjoy at the front of the pack having notably secured podium places in the Mini Fastnet in 2020 and the Mini en Mai 2021. My goal is the Top 3. The hardest thing will be finding the right rhythm. The sleep management and weather strategy will obviously be key points too. I can’t wait!”
