Massimo Vatteroni, 35th Production Boat in Saint-François : “It was a beautiful voyage and a beautiful race”
Massimo Vatteroni (428) crossed the finish line of the second leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef in 35th place in the Production boat fleet this Tuesday 16 November at 01h 33min 04s (UTC). In this way, the skipper of Kabak took 17 days 11 hours 33 minutes and 04 seconds to complete the 2,700 miles of the course between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Saint-François. His combined race time for the two legs equates to 28 days 18 hours 08 minutes 10 seconds.
“It’s really been a wonderful race. We’ve had all kinds of conditions. The start of the leg was tricky as we had to choose between heading west or south. I decided to stay on an intermediate trajectory so as not to take too many risks. It’s been fantastic. There were some incredible moments. Magnificent sunsets, skies filled with stars and nice surfing, especially over the last few days… It was a beautiful voyage and a beautiful race. I should have taken more MP3 files because after a few days, I could have done with listening to some new music. My boat worked well. I broke a few minor things but nothing important. I managed to strike the right balance in the right place because I pushed hard whilst being fairly conservative. I’m extremely happy to have managed to go all the way and to have arrived here with all of you. I’d really like to thank the Class Mini, the organisation, the race partner EuroChef… The Mini Transat is once and for all a unique adventure.”
