Lennart Burke (943 – VORPOMMERN), 10th production boat skipper: ““I’ve been through the whole colour spectrum on an emotional level”
Lennart Burke was the xxth production boat skipper to cross the finish line of the first leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef this Saturday 9 October at 6h37'53 (UTC). In so doing, the skipper of VORPOMMERN took 11 days 17 hours 7 minutes and 53 seconds to complete the 1,350-mile course between Les Sables d’Olonne and Santa Cruz de La Palma.
“I think it’s been the toughest and most intense race I’ve ever done. It’s been very long and I’ve really been through the whole colour spectrum on an emotional level. One day I was exhausted and the day after I was laughing. It’s been completely crazy, but everything’s gone well ultimately. I haven’t broken anything aboard other than my pulpit on the second day out, as the front rolled through. I managed to repair it, but the race has been difficult. There’s stiff competition out there and to get into the Top 10, I’ve really had to fight for my place. On a tactical level we’ve really had it all. During the past four days, we’ve had to link together eight to ten gybes a day, which has been very physically demanding. I’m very happy to get to the finish!”
