Federico Waksman, 19e Production Boat into Saint-François : « The Mini Transat is an absolute MUST ! »
Federico Waksman (912) crossed the finish line of the second leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef in 5th place in the Production boat fleet this Monday 15 of November at 07h 44min 23s (UTC). In this way, the skipper of Like Crazy Uruguay took 16 days 17 hours 44 minutes and 23 seconds to complete the 2,700 miles of the course between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Saint-François. His combined race time for the two legs equates to 27 days 15 hours 05 minutes 29 seconds.
“I’m very happy to arrive in Guadeloupe. It was a very tough race. I admit that I was expecting it to feel shorter. It was completely different to all the other races I’ve participated in before. Like all the other skippers I imagine, I’ve learned a huge amount about myself and also about the boat and sailing in general. I had some really great moments, as well as some tougher ones I had to deal with. I was in the Top 5 for the first five days of the race. I wanted to stay in contact with the little group I was alongside, with Léo (Debiesse), Hugo (Dhallenne) and some others. We headed west but the right decision lay to the south. We quite quickly understood that, but it was already too late to switch option and that was very tough mentally. I had to rally my spirits and try to limit the damage and get the boat making as fast headway as possible. It was complicated mentally, but physically less so, because ultimately we only got some breeze in the last two days. The rest of the time it was fairly wheezy. In any case, it was an incredible experience on a personal level. The Mini Transat is an absolute MUST and I’ll be back to get my revenge!”
