Carlos Olsson Ripoll, 36th Production Boat into Saint-François
Carlos Olsson Ripoll (691) crossed the finish line of the second leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef in 36th place in the Production boat fleet this Tuesday 16 of Novembre at 02h 32min 42s (UTC). In this way, the skipper of Bridgestothesea took 17 days 12 hours 32 minutes and 42 seconds to complete the 2,700 miles of the course between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Saint-François. His combined race time for the two legs equates to 28 days 13 hours 00 minutes 12 seconds.
“It’s been an incredible adventure, even more so than I’d imagined. Every day spent at sea was really special. The race has been very interesting. The first leg was very different in terms of rhythm. This one left more time for contemplation. I’ve learned a lot again, about the boat, about sailing and also about myself. Crossing the finish line was obviously a special moment. I was happy to be able to say to myself that I’d managed to cross the Atlantic and get to the other side, but I also realised that it was the end of the story. I hadn’t really taken that into account. Moreover, on discovering the bay of Saint-François, I thought how great it would be to have a start here, before I realised that there was no third leg! (laughs) You don’t want this type of adventure to come to an end! The welcome here is great and the venue is like a film set. It’s the first time I’ve come to Guadeloupe and I hope to make the most of it!”
