Carlos Manera, 37th Production Boat into Saint-François
Carlos Manera (807) crossed the finish line of the second leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef in 37th place in the Production boat fleet this Tuesday 16 of Novembre at 03h 01min 39s (UTC). In this way, the skipper of Varador 2000 took 17 days 13 hours 01 minutes and 39 seconds to complete the 2,700 miles of the course between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Saint-François. His combined race time for the two legs equates to 28 days 13 hours 02 minutes 29 seconds.
“It’s completely mad to arrive here and receive such a welcome! I wasn’t expecting it and it makes me feel very happy. I feel lucky to have gone all the way with my adventure. It’s a dream come true for me. Crossing the line was quite something. I suddenly realised what I’d just achieved. I feel pure joy and happiness! The last two days weren’t the easiest. I broke a few minor things aboard the boat but all that’s behind me already. What I will remember is all these days of virtually perfect peace, with nobody around, not even on the horizon. I’ve learned a lot but I’m a bit surprised as I learnt more about navigation and strategy in the first leg than the second, which was a bit different. The second was more monotonous, slower. Another Mini Transat? I don’t know yet. I’ve adored it so I won’t rule it out!”
